Each day, creators inspire people and advance culture around the world. With the incredible opportunity of blockchain technology, they can now take advantage of new tools to win income, and fans can support their favorite creators by buying digital collectibles – art, images and videos, music or cards to exchange – as a non -loot tokens (NFTS). From this week, some creators and collectors can share their digital collectibles on Instagram.
Creators use new technologies like NFTS to take more control over their work, their relationship with their fans and how they can monetize. At Meta, we examine what creators are already doing in our technologies in order to improve experience, help them create more monetization opportunities and bring NFT to a wider audience.
Presentation of digital collectibles
We are starting to test digital collectibles with a handful of American creators and collectors who can share NFTS on Instagram that they have created or bought. This feature includes:
- Connection of a digital portfolio. Once connected, creators and collectors will have the opportunity to choose the NFT of their portfolio they wish to share on Instagram.
- Sharing digital collectibles. Once a creator or a collector publishes a digital collection, he will have a shimmering effect and can display public information, such as a description of the NFT. Messages will also be visible on their profile.
- Automatic tagging of the creator and collector. The creator and the collector can be automatically allocated in the digital collection position (subject to their privacy settings).
We collect and organize public data from open blockchains, such as Ethereum, to provide this functionality. Based from these public blockchain data, we can only identify collectibles belong to collectors and creators when they connect their third -party wallets to Instagram. From the launch, the blockchains that will be taken care of are Ethereum and Polygon, with Flow and Solana to come soon. Third -party portfolios compatible for use will include Rainbow, Metamask and Trust WalletWith Coinbase, Dapper and Phantom to come soon. No fees will be associated with the publication or sharing of a digital collection on Instagram.
It is essential that our first efforts in this space allow various voices and that the under-represented groups have access to emerging digital assets such as NFT. By strengthening the support for NFTs, we aim to improve accessibility, reduce barriers to entry and make the NFT space more inclusive for all communities. It is also important that we keep Instagram a safe and pleasant place for everyone. Therefore, people can use our tools to keep their accounts safe and report digital collectibles that go against our community directives. In addition, we understand that blockchain technology and NFT are raising important questions about sustainability. Meta will help reduce the impact of emissions that could be associated with the digital collection display on Instagram by buying renewable energies. “I feel delighted to be able to share my nft trip with the community that I have been cultivating on IG for over ten years! I love the way this new feature will allow collectors to trace art to the artist and to be part of the community they have built on IG for so long. I love the way she folds my traditional artistic community and women who set up the NFT community. ” – @maliha_z_art
